Michigan Medicine Department of Internal Medicine and the Michigan Social Health Interventions to Eliminate Disparities Collaborative Quality Initiative (MSHIELD CQI) is seeking a Program Manager to help lead and manage the MSHIELD team and the collaborative’s statewide portfolio of work including data strategy to develop equity-focused quality improvement (QI) activities, implementation of trainings and workshops to ensure anti-racist principles are applied in QI initiatives, and collaborations with community and clinical partners to close the gap between healthcare and social service systems. 

In partnership with the MSHIELD Co-Directors and team, this employee is responsible for the day-to-day management of the MSHIELD BCBSM sponsored CQI initiative, including program/project management support for annual contracts and activities, maintenance of existing strategic partnerships, and oversight of financial and organizational planning and implementation. Existing MSHIELD staff will report directly to this employee, who along with the MSHIELD team will be responsible for driving a positive internal organizational culture and cultivating a strong reputation within the CQI portfolio and the associated healthcare and community member organizations.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) sponsored Collaborative Quality Initiatives (CQI) are statewide quality improvement programs whose goals are to improve quality, safety, and clinical outcomes for specific healthcare procedures or medical conditions across the state of Michigan (https://cqis.org). Each CQI is organized and facilitated by a Coordinating Center, led by Program Directors and Co-directors, and a Program Manager. Michigan Medicine is home to the coordinating centers for 20 of the current CQIs. 

The Michigan Social Health Interventions to Eliminate Disparities (MSHIELD) is a CQI focused on addressing health equity as a key component of quality improvement in health care. MSHIELD's mission is to empower CQIs to lead the future of quality improvement which achieves whole health for all people by integrating social care and clinical care, using data to drive health equity, and fostering a culture of anti-racism.

Work Locations

This department employs a work remote first policy. Office and meeting space within the health system is available as needed and in-person work across Michigan will be occasionally required, but remote work is supported and encouraged as appropriate. The MSHIELD team works remotely 4 days/week, with one on-site day for in person work at Arbor Lakes (4251 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor).  

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $94,180 - $150,680 plus benefits, including excellent medical, dental, and vision coverage effective on the first day of employment, and 2:1 Match on retirement savings after the first year. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
